About this package

The word "dedans" comes from the French for "within." In Real Tennis — the original racket sport, predating lawn tennis by several centuries — the dedans is the netted opening at one end of the court through which spectators have traditionally watched the game. It is not a metaphor or a marketing term. It is a specific architectural feature of a specific kind of court, and the Queen's Club has one that is still in active use.

This package puts your group of twelve inside it.

The Real Tennis Dedans is a private gallery within the Queen's Clubhouse, set directly within the traditional viewing position of the active Real Tennis court below. The room is styled to reflect the history of the sport — the proportions, the materials, the details all speak to a tradition that stretches back to the medieval period, long before the lawn tennis played on the Andy Murray Arena outside was invented. Sitting in the Dedans for a three-course lunch while an active Real Tennis game takes place on the court below is an experience that exists nowhere else on the Queen's Club hospitality menu and very few places in the world beyond it.

The distinction between the Dedans and its neighbour the Real Tennis Museum is one of architectural relationship to the sport. The Museum is a room decorated with the history of Real Tennis, positioned to overlook the court. The Dedans is the court's own viewing gallery — a space that was built for watching the game and has been used for that purpose across the history of the club. Both seat twelve, both offer the same menu and drinks structure, both include the same Centre Court North Stand seats. The difference is the specific quality of being inside the game rather than adjacent to it. For the right group, that distinction is everything.

The format is private dining in its most undiluted form. Twelve guests, one table, one gallery, no other parties. A Champagne reception opens the day, followed by a three-course lunch at the table set for twelve, with a complimentary bar covering Champagne, Pimm's, spirits, beer, wine, and soft drinks running throughout. Takeaway drinks are permitted courtside, making the walk from the Clubhouse to the North Stand a natural extension of the hospitality rather than an abrupt transition out of it. Afternoon tea rounds out the food offer before the later sessions on Centre Court.

The seats are in rows one and two of the Premium North Stand, directly behind the baseline with padded seats — the closest rows to the players during serve and changeover. For a group of twelve who understand what they are watching, this position is the most tactically revealing on the court. The serve, the return, the first ball of the rally — all of these read differently from behind the baseline than from the sideline, and the proximity of rows one and two means you experience rather than observe them.

A Real Tennis demonstration can be arranged at an additional cost, which in the context of the Dedans takes on a specific resonance. You are not watching a demonstration in a foreign space — you are watching it from the gallery that was built for exactly that purpose, above the court you have been looking down at all day.

The Real Tennis Dedans is sold out for the ATP500 2026. Register your interest through the experience.tennis concierge and we will contact you immediately if availability returns, or to discuss securing a place for a future edition.
