The word "dedans" comes from the French for "within." In Real Tennis, the dedans is the netted opening at one end of the court through which spectators traditionally watched the game. The Queen's Club still has one. This package puts your group of twelve inside it.
The Real Tennis Dedans is a private gallery within the Queen's Clubhouse, positioned to overlook the active Real Tennis court — one of only a handful still in use anywhere in London. The room is styled in keeping with the history of the sport: the decor, the proportions, and the view all reflect a tradition that stretches back to the medieval period, long before lawn tennis was invented. It is an unusual, completely distinctive space, and that distinctiveness is precisely the point. This is not the package for a group whose priority is modern lounge comfort. It is the package for a group of twelve who want to eat and drink well in a room that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, at one of the most prestigious events on the British sporting calendar.
The tennis on Centre Court is accessed via rows one and two of the North Stand, placing your group directly behind the players in the closest seats to the baseline on the court. The walk from the Dedans to your seats is approximately 100 yards, via the Palliser Road Hospitality Entrance. Like the Real Tennis Museum next door, the Dedans does not offer step-free access, and the minimum age is 12 years. Personal items can be left within the private space.
What separates the Dedans from the Museum comes down to atmosphere and positioning. Both are private rooms for twelve in the Clubhouse. The Dedans has the specific quality of being an actual viewing gallery within an active sports court, which gives the room a different feeling from a dining room that happens to overlook a court. For a senior guest who has attended every marquee hospitality event the calendar offers and wants something that will genuinely surprise them, the Dedans is the answer.
