About this package

The Italian Open is held at the Foro Italico — one of the most dramatic sporting venues in the world, set against umbrella pines and Roman marble with the city visible on the hills above the courts. Campo Centrale seats over 10,000 people and the atmosphere during the middle and later rounds is as good as clay court tennis gets anywhere. Courtside seats there, watching the world's best players navigate one of the slowest surfaces in the sport during the European clay season, is a genuinely different experience from any other tournament on the calendar.

The Golden Ticket has run this trip before. The itinerary is not theoretical — the specific venues, the specific restaurants, the specific clubs are confirmed from previous editions. Villa Laetitia is the hotel: a boutique property on the banks of the Tiber with rooms designed by the Fendi family, about a kilometre from the Foro Italico. Steps from the tournament in the most literal sense. The kickoff dinner is at Pierluigi, one of Rome's great traditional seafood restaurants in the Piazza de' Ricci — a table that requires knowing someone, which the Golden Ticket provides. The group dinner mid-trip is at Taverna Trilussa in Trastevere, the neighbourhood restaurant that has been feeding Romans well since 1929.

The morning practices alternate between two of Rome's most storied private clubs. Circolo Corte Dei Conti is a magistrates' club housed in a historic building near the Vatican — clay courts, history, and the kind of exclusive access that visiting tennis players don't normally find. Circolo Cannottieri Roma sits on the banks of the Tiber near the Ponte Duca d'Aosta — a rowing and tennis club with a riverside terrace and some of the best-maintained clay in the city. Two practices, two clubs, two very different Roman settings.

The spa day at Due Ponti Sporting Club on the third day of play is the structural element that makes a five-day intensive tennis trip genuinely sustainable. A 90-minute morning practice followed by brunch and a pool and spa day at one of Rome's premier private sports clubs, before a night session courtside at Campo Centrale, is a day that earns its place in the schedule.

The cultural day — racquets down — includes a VIP tour of the Colosseum. Previous editions have also included a food tour and a visit to Cinecittà, the historic film studio. The specific programme varies by year but the principle is consistent: one day where the city is the point, experienced at a level of access that independent visitors rarely achieve.

Two sessions are available for May 2027. Session 1 covers the early rounds, May 4-9. Session 2 covers the middle rounds, May 9-14. The itineraries are identical in structure — same hotels, same clubs, same restaurants, same cultural day format — with the match sessions shifting one week later in the draw. Both offer courtside seats in Campo Centrale. The middle rounds session puts you in the stadium as the field narrows and the matches carry more weight. The early rounds session puts you there when the full draw is running and the outer courts of the Foro Italico are accessible alongside the main stadium. Both are the right choice depending on what you want from the tennis.
