Some tennis retreats are built around the coaching. Arch Retreats builds them around something harder to manufacture: the right group of people, in the right place, at the right time. The Crete edition, running 23-28 June 2026, is the most ambitious location the brand has taken on — and looking at the venue, that ambition is justified.

The base for the week is the Hermes Grand Luxury Beachfront Villa and Spa, a private nine-room estate on the Cretan coast near Rethymno. Infinity pool at the edge of the sea. A private clay court nine minutes away at Baseline Rethymno. An outdoor dining table long enough to seat the whole group, set against open water. The kind of place that makes the gap between a standard tennis trip and this one immediately clear.

The coaching runs across six intensive sessions totalling 16 hours, delivered by coaches with former National and NCAA Division 1 backgrounds. The format is technically progressive: Day 1 opens with groundstrokes, serve, and footwork foundations. Day 2 sharpens offence and defence, working on midcourt transitions and handling fast balls. Days 3 through 5 rotate through tactical match play, the Signature Villa Tournament — a private competitive event held on the estate — and individual private sessions. Players are grouped by level throughout, which means you are always training at or slightly above your ceiling rather than waiting for others to catch up.

The afternoons and evenings are built around Crete itself. A private boat excursion across the island's turquoise coastline to hidden coves. A guided hike through Kourtaliotiko Gorge. An afternoon at Spilies Beach. Dinner in Rethymno old town. The mornings start with guided breathwork and movement sessions before breakfast, a detail that separates this from a straightforward tennis camp — Arch takes recovery and mental preparation as seriously as court time.

Three accommodation categories are available. The Horizon Suites face the Mediterranean horizon directly and are the most sought-after rooms. The Sanctuary Rooms have direct access to the villa grounds and court with quiet, shaded interiors. The Grounded Terrace rooms sit closest to the shore with beachfront proximity and cool private spaces. All three share the same full programme and villa access; the difference is orientation and view.

Meals are curated rather than all-inclusive. Daily chef-prepared Cretan breakfasts are included, along with a formal Opening Night Dinner and a closing Mediterranean BBQ. For other meals, Arch provides local recommendations to explore Crete's tavernas independently — a deliberate choice that gives the group a genuine taste of the island rather than keeping everyone captive at the villa.

The retreat is supported by BOSS and limited to nine rooms. Arch keeps their groups intentionally small — this is not a camp of 40 people rotating through court stations. Everyone in the villa knows everyone else by day two.
